Paint the Town Green!

Join us on Wed Oct 19 at 7:00pm for a fundraising event at the Ground Level Café. We’ll be unveiling our new greener menu and our continued employment training programs for youth.

Framed limited edition prints by acclaimed artists (including Robert Bateman) will be for sale, there will be a silent auction of a wide range of items, live jazz from a local musician, and of course delicious food and drink!

Tickets are $25 at the door, or $20 in advance in the cafe or by visiting our CanadaHelps donation page.  Please indicate “Oct 19 fundraiser” in the message box if donating online.  Each ticket will be entered into a draw for one framed limited edition print by Robert Bateman.

We hope you can join us!

teas on trial

We’ll be testing a new line of teas from Toronto company Nourishtea starting next week. Their line of red (black) whole leaf teas can warm your mornings and soothe your afternoons.

We’d love to hear what you think of them and what your favourite flavour is. Be sure to mention in the comments or on our Facebook page.

new exhibit by Karim Awad

The walls of the cafe are beaming with abstract art and colour, courtesy of local artist Karim Awad. The bold colours and roughened brushstrokes of these oil paintings pop against our rustic brick facade.

His original paintings are for sale, and 10% of all sales will be donated back to the cafe. Contact Karim for details.

Karim’s art will be on display into Sep 2010.

calling all crafters!

We’re looking for crafters, jewelers, and all sorts of people who work with their hands to create awesome new things to sell. We will be filling a calendar of crafters to have a table in our cafe to sell your wares. Tables are now being booked at $20/day.

What you’d get:

  • 1 6ft table near the window
  • 2 chairs
  • mention on our blog, Facebook page, Twitter (plus other opportunities where we can)
  • a full day to display your products (you can stay for as long as you’d like during business hours)

You’d be responsible for managing your table and products throughout the day.

For $20 you’d get exposure to all of our customers, plus any foot traffic that see you through the window. Contact info@glyv.org to book your date!
